Gadgets That Have Influenced Me

Over the years I've seen trends come and go. Styles have faded in and out. This page here is to honor some of the gizmos, gadgets, and technological advances that have influenced me over time.

Super Mario Bros Button

Super Mario Bros. wasn't the first video game I ever played, but it was the video game that I recall influencing my childhood. I remember the first time I laid my eyes on the little Italian plumber who stomped goombas while navigating through sewers. It didn't make any sense and it didn't matter. The game was on my brain all the time, and I knew where every extra life was.

Robots Button

When I was a little boy the idea of walking, talking robots has fascinated me. There is just something so cool about robots. There have been many famous robots such as Robocop and R2D2, but my favorite robot would have to be Johnny Five from the movie Short Circuit. It was one of those movies where you became really attached to the robot, and the line between human and robot becomes a bit blurred. Johnny Five had a personality you just had to love.

iChat Away Button

Since my first day online I can remember chatting with people. Before there was the 'internet' I used to log on to bulletin board services (BBS) where about the only thing you could do was chat with folks. Online services have since expanded to cover more areas then just chatting but internet chat is still a huge part of my life and many others. If it weren't for AOL Instant Messenger I'm not sure I'd still be in contact with many old friends.

Google Button

I remember a time when I actually had to go to library and look through card catalogs to find books so I could write a paper. Ever since Google has arrived I find that I've become even lazier... smarter... better informed. Whatever it is all I know is they have a hold on me. Whenever I have question that I need answered Google is the first place I look. The fact that I'm not the only one who does this is what makes Google so influential.

Buick Button

One thing that I've always had an interest in was cars. There is just something about them that makes them fascinating. From the engines that make them go to the way they look I'm hooked. In the image above you can see a portion of my Buick which was the first car I owned. My favorite style of car came from the 50s which is what really drew me to my Buick. Its a funny experience to drive the Buick and use 50s technology only to get into a modern day vehicle and experience how much the world has changed.
